On October 31, 2023, students and teachers from Loures Basic and Secondary Schools were invited to take a guided tour of the Adão Barata Park, in Loures, and to participate in ludic-pedagogical activities, in order to raise their awareness of the theme of Climate Change. This action was an initiative of AIDGLOBAL, in partnership with the Instituto Superior Técnico of Lisbon and the Municipality of Loures, within the scope of the AIDGLOBAL project "PAB_LivingLab – Vive a decarbonização no Parque Adão Barata".

The activities were attended by students and teachers from General Humberto Delgado Basic School, Gaspar Correia Basic School, João Villaret Basic School, Santa Iria de Azoia Basic School and Arco-Íris da Portela Secondary School (7th year, 8th year, 9th year), and were promoted by members of the AIDGLOBAL (10), Instituto Superior Técnico (2) and Loures City Council (3) teams.

Early in the morning, at 9 am, the students and teachers were received in the Park by AIDGLOBAL, who then gave them a brief introduction on how the day's activities would take place and what topics they would focus on.

Throughout the day, the following activities were streamlined:

• SUSTAINABILITY (AIDGLOBAL): students were invited to express their opinion on Sustainability in writing;
  
  
• SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY (AIDGLOBAL): through the "handkerchief game", the students answered questions on the subject;
  
  
• RENEWABLE ENERGY AND RECYCLING POINT (AIDGLOBAL): the team listed and explained the innovations made in the park, namely the Recycling point (batteries, corks and food oil, books to encourage the circular economy), the Renewable Energy Community (CER)/Collective Self-Consumption (ACC) and the Theme Playground; The students were then invited to participate in a query to  assess their knowledge of renewable energy;
  
  
• AIR QUALITY (Instituto Superior Técnico): through the games of "petanque" and "roulette of luck", the students answered questions about air quality;
  
  
• CLIMATE POLICIES (AIDGLOBAL): the theme was introduced, the students were divided into groups and encouraged to find individual or collective/political solutions to solve environmental problems (melting glaciers, loss of biodiversity or increase in forest fires);
  
  
• TREE CACHING (AIDGLOBAL): After a brief introduction on the PAB, the students were divided into groups to solve a “crossword puzzle” under the environmental theme. Then, they went to observe the plaque of the sponsored trees, where, through a QR Code, they could see the work they had carried out, in the 2022/2023 school year.
  
  

"PAB_LivingLab – Vive a decarbonização no Parque Adão Barata" is a project managed by AIDGLOBAL, which aims to reduce the carbon intensity of the activities and services of Parque Adão Barata, in Loures, through the implementation of innovative technological solutions, empowering the entire value chain and with a view to promoting active citizenship. In this sense, it is proposed to sensitize the population to the benefits of adopting sustainable lifestyles. It is funded by the EEA Grants Environment Programme and is operated by the General Secretariat for the Environment.
